1821 Media is a multimedia production and finance company that specializes in high quality films, television, graphic novels and digital media.
The company has forged successful partnerships with major studios as well as independent filmmakers such as actress Natalie Portman and comic book legend Stan Lee.
1821 Pictures currently has eight films in post-production, including ‘Jane Got A Gun’, starring and co-produced with Natalie Portman and Scott Steindorf.
On the studio side, the company has a number of projects set up at Warner Bros., Disney and Fox.
1821 Pictures’ most recent independent releases include drama ‘And While We Were Here’, starring Kate Bosworth and ‘Machete Kills’, directed by Robert Rodriquez and starring Danny Trejo, for which the company provided financing.
1821 Pictures recently announced the formation of a new branded company – Vicarious Entertainment – which specializes in genre films. A number of projects are already in post-production, some of which have been made in association with Steven Schneider, producer of the Paranormal Activity and Insidious franchises.
The company is also active in television with a number of projects in development. Their most recent show is an extreme travel series ‘Xtreme Sommer’ which has been airing in the US and in over 30 countries worldwide.
On the graphic novel side, 1821 Comics published the New York Times Best Selling and award-winning Romeo & Juliet: The War in association with Stan Lee, and is currently developing it into a major motion picture. The company also produced ‘With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story’, a feature documentary on the life of Stan Lee.
Building on the success of their partnership, the company teamed with Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment to launch Stan Lee’s Kids Universe, a multimedia company specializing in the publication and distribution of fun picture books and mobile games for children 10 and under.
1821 Media was formed by Paris Kasidokostas Latsis and Terry Dougas in 2005. The two partners quickly formed alliances and went on to produce such features as Swing Vote starring Kevin Costner, The Box starring Cameron Diaz and The Invention of Lying starring Ricky Gervais and Jennifer Garner.
1821 Media continues to expand its slate and develop high quality projects for all mediums.
